I would be interested in reading more of your thoughts on why the bible is presented as a story, not a log of events of an "operator's manual". Certainly the Genesis creation account reports a series of events, but it is done in a very literary style. Why do you suppose that is?
I don't think "true story" is a contradiction, anymore than "prose poem" or "song without words".
